Nasturtium majus Cobra

Nasturtiums forever

I have always been a fan of Nasturtiums. I remember as a child, being given a paper bag full of these small caper-like seeds. Not knowing what they were, I planted them and was in awe to see the large, edible, ivy-shaped leaves poke through the ground, followed by rapid growth into a unstoppable creeping, flowering spectacle. I don’t know if it was beginners luck, but I have not since seen such an excellent display of Nasturtiums.

Introducing Nasturtium majus Cobra

It could be just naustalgia with me, but I can’t resist growing Nasturtiums every year. This year, I have treated myself to a new and award winning variety to brighten up my front garden. Nasturtium majus Cobra is now available for the first time after many years of seed stock building. It originally won the Fleuroselect Novelty mark back in 1999. Here is what Thomson & Morgan have said about Cobra:

“The bushy, dark-leaved plants will quickly trail through borders or over the sides of containers and baskets, whilst the contrasting dark red, double blooms, exclusive to this variety, make Cobra a spectacular ‘must-have’ for your garden this summer! Trailing to 75cm (30in).”
