Runner Bean - Wisley Magic - Seeds
Back in 1999, Runner Bean ‘Wisley Magic‘ won an RHS AGM and was also voted ‘The Best on Trail’ – producing the heaviest yield of high quality beans and over a long picking season. Wisley Magic bares very attractive, bright red flowers along it’s smooth and long slender pods.
The pods themselves can reach as long as 14ins! Wisley Magic is not a string-less variety of running beans, but it has a low fibre content making for a better, tastier crop. This gives Wisley Magic an ‘old fashioned’ runner bean flavour. These seeds are in the RHS Vegetable Collection.
For sowing in mid-April (indoors) or May to early July outdoors. Prefers to be grown in fertile, moist yet well drained soil which has had plenty of well rotted compost dug into it the previous autumn. Runner beans are a good source of Vitamin C, folate, iron and have a high fibre content. Hoe regularly and keep well watered. Mulch during dry periods. Pick beans regularly when young.
