Ok, we have had a fair few wet summers lately, but most climate scientists agree that we are generally heading for hotter and much drying summers. My garden in Dawlish in South Devon has many very dry spots. The soil is so free draining, it is difficult to keep it moist enough for most flowering plants. I have added plenty of organic matter to retain moisture; this helps a lot, but some of my south facing borders are so sun baked that the moisture is only short lived. Here are a few suggestions of flowering plants that can cope with a dry situation:
